Mark Utley is a percussionist based in Brooklyn, New York. A performer with eclectic tastes and interests, Mark has performed extensively throughout the United States and South Korea at events and venues such as the Ecstatic Music Festival, Right Now Music Seoul, the Avant Music Festival, the MATA Festival, Fast Forward Austin, the 12th Annual Livestrong Gala, the Massachussetts Museum of Contemporary Art, the Menil Collection, the Times Two Series in Boston, Gettysburg College, Duke University, Schermerhorn Symphony Center, and iconic NYC venues Le Poisson Rouge, The Kitchen, Roulette, and Symphony Space. Mark has worked with some of today's finest composers including Mark Appelbaum, Paula Matthusen, Michael Gordon, Daniel Wohl, Aaron Siegel, and countless others.

As a new music percussionist, Mark is a founding member of the New York-based Exceptet and a frequent collaborator with Mantra Percussion. Mark is also a member of the Brooklyn-based min/maximalist punk band Marateck, along with composer Brendon Randall-Myers, Real Loud bassist Tristan Kasten-Krause, and Jesse Kranzler of Tan Tien fame.

Mark holds a master’s degree from Stony Brook University and a bachelor’s degree from Baylor University. Mark’s principle teachers include Eduardo Leandro, Todd Meehan, and Edward Taylor.
